About Us

Ambrosilk exists to make real mulberry silk something you actually own rather than something you admire through a shop window. A great deal of what is sold as “silk” online is polyester satin wearing a softer word, and the sellers who do it rarely publish a single number you could check them against. We publish the fibre, the grade and the momme weight on every product page, and we price the genuine article closely enough to the imitation that there is no longer a good reason to settle for it.

The company began with one frustration: a pillowcase. Finding one that was honestly labelled, heavy enough to survive a year of washing, and not priced like a luxury handbag turned into months of reading specification sheets that mostly did not exist. So we went to the mills directly, learned what separates 6A long-strand filament from the short-strand material that pills within a season, and launched with the single product we had wanted for ourselves. Everything that followed — sheet sets, duvet covers, sleepwear, bonnets — has had to pass the same test: would we put it on our own bed in place of what is already there?

We think a specification is a promise, so ours are printed in plain sight: fibre, grade, momme, exact dimensions, and how to wash the thing without ruining it. We think silk should be used rather than saved for good, which is why every piece we make is machine washable on a cold delicate cycle. And we think the buying should be as unfussy as the fabric itself — free shipping on every order with no minimum, thirty days from the day it arrives to change your mind, and a real person at the other end of our inbox who answers within a business day or two.
